RochesterWriters

With all the great writers in Rochester and all the diverse subjects being discussed, it seemed like a good idea to create a site whose only goal was to amplify and aggregate that great writing in one place. It seemed like the logical next step aught to be a site without any specific political, financial, cultural or social agenda to present a wide ranging tapestry of the conversations happening around the region. So, that's what we did.

At the end of 2008, Rottenchester of The Fighting 29th, Exile on Ericsson St. of The Albany Project and Tom Belknap of DragonFlyEye.Net got together to discuss possible projects to work together on. Two separate but equal goals were:

• Create a news feed that featured some of the best in Rochester blogging.
• Create a site where we could post a topic of discussion, then let each of us write posts about the subject.

After much discussion and many drinks, we arrived at rebuilding the RocWriters.com website to fill those roles and a few more. RocWriters.com now includes two "aggregated" news feeds: one featuring some participating blogs around Rochester, and another which combines many of the local Rochester news outlet feeds in one convenient package. The main page features the topic-based discussions where we invite people to add to the discussion. And everything on this site is available as its own RSS feed, to do with as you like.

We hope you find this website and it's news feeds a valuable resource.
